Daily Summary for 12/16/2024
And…that’s a wrap, 2024
Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 8:16 am. It was 41 degrees, overcast and damp. Live unload was in progress at the receiver in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
Delivery is complete, another trip safely completed at 9:10 am. We started our next trip to the shipper near Plymouth, WI.
Steve stops after exiting the receiver to blow out the trailer.
He stops at the BP in Plymouth at 11:06 am. Fresh coffee and a danish were acquired. Steve had mentioned that the truck parking lot was still a dirt lot the last time we were here, they were preparing to pave it, but let he stay here. He did ask why it was not finished yet, and apparently there was an engineering issue.
Arrival at the last shipper of 2024, live load at 11:20 am in a dock door at 11:40 am. Loaded at 12:11 pm, beginning our trip to Gary, Indiana to drop the trailer.
Cat Scale at the BP at 12:21 pm, a weigh mass check, “processing, processing…weight is perfect.”
Milwaukee is visible from I-43 at 1:16 pm.
Welcome to Illinois at 1:54 pm near Wadsworth.
Downtown skyline view of Chicago at 2:53 pm from I-90/I-94 the Kennedy Expressway.
Welcome to Indiana at 3:23 pm near Hammond. Steve starts to enter the Indiana toll booth at 3:25 pm, a car is stopped and apparently does not know what to do. After what seemed like a long time, it moved through the booth so Steve could continue.
Broadcast ends as we near the drop yard in Gary, IN at 3:39 pm to complete the final delivery of 2024.
Broadcast resumes at 4:26 pm as we were leaving Gary Bobtail Bob. Steve points out a wrong way driver at 4:31 pm, “how do you end up going on the wrong side of the road, dude?”
Welcome back to Illinois near Lansing at 4:44 pm.
The Alsip water tower is sighted at 4:59 pm all lit up.
Love’s stop at Hampshire, IL at 6:19 pm. Will end here for the season and the year.
Numbers: Not discussed. We covered 380 miles rolling out Wisconsin, in, out of Illinois, into Indiana then back to Illinois.
Clocks: Not discussed as they do not count as BRS goes into time off.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Steve. Enjoy your time away from the truck.
Good luck Steve! Remember, you have a road army behind you as you deal with your medical issues.
We look forward to the next time we connect with you.
Merry Christmas Steve. Apologies if I missed an explanation, but why haven’t you been out west for sometime now?
I live in the UK, but had a driving holiday around many of the US national parks (Nevada, Utah & Arizona) in June and it was cool to drive on roads that I’ve watched you navigate many times.
Hello Steve,Hope you get well soon.Didn,t know you had an op! Best wishes for Christmas. Joy Adams ox
