Daily Summary for 11/9/2024
Yet another goose chase
Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 7:46 am at the Love’s near Flowood, MS. It was 71 and overcast and “Mississippi muggy”. We fuel up the refer tank, we are continuing our trip back to Memphis, TN.
Love’s near Batesville, MS at 10:32 am for a coffee refill.
Approached the company yard to drop off trailer at 11:39 am when the broadcast ends as Steve goes in.
12:05 pm the broadcast resumes, we are Bobtail Bob headed to a customer in West Memphis, AR to pick up an empty trailer to bring back to the yard.
Crossing the Mississippi River at 12:20 pm, one of several crossings today. Welcome to Arkansas.
Arrival at the customer at 12:34 pm in the rain. Steve discovers the trailers are in a dirt lot that is too muddy and dangerous to enter, even the customer’s yard dog won’t go into that lot to pull trailers out as that had been tried the other day unsuccessfully. We leave customer at 1:01 pm after contacting the weekend team about the predicament. There was also a second trip scheduled to this dirt lot to pick up a second trailer which was also unretrievable due to the mud.
We head to the Love’s nearby and arrive at 1:18 pm. Since the muddy lot was the source of two trips, we are now down to one more trip which we need to wait for the planners (or his boss) to cancel the first two, so he can start the third.
At 2:12 pm, we are finally able to start the last of the local trips with fresh Love’s coffee.
Arrival at the next trailer location at 2:25 pm near Memphis, TN, a place that we’ve been to before. BRS reminisces the time the road construction caused us to work around this shipper and find our way out. BRS advised the trailer is nowhere to be found. “Yet another goose chase.” “This trip is bogus as well.”
We are headed back to the Love’s at 2:40 pm in West Memphis, AR as we run out of local trips. Back parked safely at 2:57 pm.
Watch party starts.
