Daily Summary for 7/1/2024

Full Day in Illinois

Big Rig Steve officially done at 20:15 CDT safely parked near Edwardsville, Illinois.

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 12:12 CDT in Belvidere, IL at BRT headquarters, first day of the 2nd half of the year.  As we leave Belvidere as Bobtail Bob, we started our trip to Rochelle, IL to find a trailer.  Steve updated us that he had reached Platinum status for the the month of July due to him making the trek to Love’s yesterday to get the last five gallons of fuel needed.

Arrived at customer at 13:04 CDT near Rochelle to pick up an empty trailer.  Woo Hoo brand new trailer!

Stopped at Love’s at 13:44 CDT near Rochelle to top off our trailer fuel tank and get a start on August to work towards Gold status Love’s rewards.  Coffee was acquired.

Bypassed the weigh mass station at 16:28 CDT as we received a green light near Williamsville, IL.

New stream starts at 16:54 CDT.

Arrived at shipper at 18:00 CDT for our check in at Edwardsville, IL.  We have been instructed that a trailer washout is required.  Steve was a bit puzzled by this request. So we had to turn around and wait to get out of the shipper in order to obtain the washout.  As normal, he handled this in stride, and off to the Blue Beacon.  We arrived at 18:23 CDT to await a washout.  The staff at the Blue Beacon noted that the shipper has been more difficult with these requests, but none the less had a washout and obtained the needed receipt.

Upon arrival at the shipper for a second time, the inspector noted the trailer was all wet and Steve said “Yeah, you just had me wash it.”  So after a short wait we finally got in for our drop and hook.

At 19:53 CDT, left the shipper and our status changed to on time to delivery.

Our next task was to get our weight checked and find parking for the night.  Mass weigh check at 20:10 CDT at the Cat scale, Steve advised, “we are heavy, but we are legal.”  On to searching for parking,  he was passing all the reserved spots, “all these bobtails” taking up so many spots.  He did find a corner spot that was free parking.

Numbers:  475 miles to receiver which is a live unload tomorrow night.  We covered 307 miles rolling within Illinois, including a trailer hunt, two trips to the shipper and a trailer washout in between.

Clocks: 4:07 hours on 11 hr,  4:57 hours on 14 hr,  61:02 hours on 70 hr.  Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning.
