Daily Summary for 2/3/2024
Big Rig Steve broadcast day ended at 11:39 PST while at the receiver in Lathrop, California. He had been done getting unloaded, paid fees, but had not received the coveted green light indicating he was able to leave. He was expected to use personal conveyance to get to the company yard which was around the corner.
Title: Overnight Run
Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 21:48 PST at the shipper on 2/3/2024 in Riverside, CA. He leaves shipper at 22:06 PST after a 5.5 to 6 hour loading process. As a result of the extended loading, BRS will need to do a split sleeper in order to make the trip work. Steve wonders as we leave the shipper, “are we overweight?” He doesn’t have a good feeling about it and wonders if the trip will work if the load needs to be reworked.

At the closest CAT scale at 22:24 PST in Jurupa Valley, CA, he does confirm that we are legal. Heavier than he would like in the back, but legal. “Let’s get coffee” before leaving for his overnight run.

Drive through at the Mass/weigh station at 00:05 PST, near Santa Clarita, CA, no issues.

This nighttime run takes us climbing through the grapevine on I-5.

BRS stopped at Lost Valley, CA at the Pilot for coffee exchange and fuel at 2:06 PST. At 2:31 back on road, but advises that he will stop if he gets to his “danger zone” of falling asleep. He alerts the road crew that one of our mods John259 fell and took an ambulance to hospital, later in the broadcast he updated us that he was OK and John would update him when he could.

At Santa Nella, CA around 4:45 PST, BRS reports that he has reached his “danger zone” and needs a nap. He has around 3 hours to sleep before finishing the last 58 miles to the receiver.

At just after 8:00 PST, BRS is awake and ready to finish his trip.

Arrived to check in at the receiver at 9:23 PST, “we made it in time”, and took until 9:34 PST for the truck to get moving again, as error messages kept BRS from restarting Blue Comet.
