Daily Summary for 12/22/2023

Big Rig Steve officially done for the day at 13:53 PST safely parked at Santa Nella, California with a fuel island view.  Broadcast ended at 14:00 PST. Later in the day a watch party started at 16: 37 PST.

Title: “This is Real Life Trucking”

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 4:18 PST at the Flying J in Jurupa Valley, CA, a damp early morning start.  BRS had started his day waking up at 3:00 PST.

Stopped near shipper at 5:32 PST in Carson, CA to review access to the shipper. “I don’t want to get caught where I’m not supposed to be.”

Arrival at shipper at 5:42 PST for the drop and hook.  BRS notes a long line waiting to get in, and the gates are closed to the shipper.  Eventually, determined the left entrance is where we needed to be to gain access into shipper, we were stuck in line on the right.

Drop and hook completed at 7:37 PST.  BRS delivery is going to have to be rescheduled.  No way that we can make it on time.

Driving the Grapevine.

Near Lost Hills, CA, required fuel stop at the Pilot  at 11:00 PST.  While BRS is waiting in the fuel line, receives a message that we are not going to the receiver in Sacramento, but going to a T-call for a repower of this trailer.  Truck fueled and refer trailer tank topped off.

Rolling on I-5 north again at 11:37 PST.

Near Avenal, CA, at 12:20 PST BRS advises, “So did you all know, right here, is the pistachio capitol of the world? Nobody has more pistachios than where we are now.”

Numbers:  56 miles 90 km to delivery at the yard near Lathrup, CA.  We covered  348 miles 550 km rolling through the state of California including a drop and hook at customer.  Still in Loves gold status for January.

Clocks: 0:08 hours on 70 hr.  Gain back 10:55 hours tomorrow morning. 8 day summary is 2969 miles 4778 km.

No alarm clock ⏰ tomorrow.   BRS advised during watch party that we would be bringing load to yard near Lathrup for another driver to deliver after Christmas and we will be “T-call”ing his trailer ending up at a “cool little place” for Christmas Eve watch party.
