Morning! Ok, well, maybe it is afternoon now.
I just got off the phone with the Houston shop. I can’t even publish my thoughts running through my mind right now about this situation. At first, the truck was to be repaired by the local Freightliner dealership. That was turned down. Then, the shop ordered a hood from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and we have been waiting and waiting on it for more than a week. Now, I am being told that they changed minds again and are going to send my hood out to be rebuilt! That means anther 3 or 4 week delay! This is totally unacceptable. The plan of action now is for me to drive my rental car down to Laredo, Texas to pick up a different truck. I will take the big stuff with me of course, but leave most of my clothes and “not absolutely necessary” things like extra clothes, etc in my truck in Houston. We will turn the car rental in at Laredo, then drive the truck to Houston and move everything from the Cascadia into the truck from Laredo. I am not happy with this, but it seems to be the only option available to get me back to driving and making money. I was willing to wait awhile for repairs to keep my truck, but this has just gotten totally out of hand. We will probably take care of this on Monday, and get back running the country early next week.
Meanwhile, the factory speed limit on my Segway is 10MPH. I decided to fiddle with things and made it go 60MPH! Ok, I’m just kidding. 🙂 Actually, I took yesterday’s 15 mile trail ride in Houston ad sped it up to equal 60mph. You can take a gander at it below.
