Gee whiz…

So here is what is going on: yesterday we picked up a preloaded trailer. When I hooked up to it, I noticed the power receptacle on the trailer had been yanked off exposing wires and relays. I also noticed the right side trailer had no lights or blinkers. Everything works on the tractor, just not on the trailer. I went to the truck stop to get things repaired. They could not get the right side trailer lights working. Every day and every time I hook to a trailer, I do a walk around to make sure every thing works properly.

Thinking it was still a problem related to the yanked out plug, we went to a trailer repair shop. They isolated the trailer and everything does indeed work. The pigtail from the back of the tractor to the trailer works….but we have no right side power coming out of the back of the tractor. The Kenworth dealer on the phone said if the tractor lights work and blink on the tractor, then the trailer has to work. The technicians at the truck stop and here at the trailer repair place has checked every fuse and relay on the truck and all is testing good!!!

Now, the only thing anybody can come up with is a broken wire near the outlet to provide power to the trailer pigtail. I find it extremely strange that this occurs at the exact same time I hook to a bad trailer! Like I mentioned, every light on every trailer worked before, even on the empty trailer I dropped just a few minutes prior to hooking to this one!

They called in more people to help out before giving up. If they don’t find the problem, it looks like a trip to the Kenworth dealer on Monday! Since the trailer actually is not the problem, it will be repowered and another driver make the delivery.

I’ll let you know what happens next… I sure am glad all this is company equipment and expenses!
