Visit to Earth, A Christmas Tale
Excitement permeated the air, and every corner of the great kingdom was abuzz with a flurry of discussion.
All the servants wished to know more about this unusual trip, because the Prince had never been away before.
Meanwhile, the Prince spent much time shut away alone with his Father, the King, seemingly storing up hours against the time homesickness would occur. They had arranged a way for the Prince to be in constant contact, but both knew how hard this separation would be. They knew of the loneliness they would endure before the purpose was accomplished.
Out of the vast estate of riches and treasure unimaginable to you and me, no one had yet mentioned what should be packed for the Prince`s expected lengthy stay. To the servants it remained a mystery. The Prince was intent only upon basking in his Father`s love. Often he and his Father could be seen walking together along the outer edges of the majestic palace grounds and staring thoughtfully out in the same direction into the deep, starry universe.
Suddenly the time of departure was announced, but nothing had been packed. It was obvious the Prince was taking nothing more than himself. His absence would be deeply felt; the fair and delightful land wouldn`t be quite the same without sight of his radiant face. When the Prince strode purposefully to the edge of the peaceful kingdom and embraced his Father tenderly, the servants dared to speak unbidden, expressing love and regrets. They asked to be allowed to accompany him for part of the journey.
Touched by this, the kind Prince graciously consented. Such an entourage had never been seen before. Luminous thousands, all hushed, with wondering eyes upon the Prince`s face: together they sped past marvelous sights and spinning universes. Then the Prince raised his hand in the air, and bid them go no further. They were standing just outside a poor, small dwelling place. He instructed them to return to his Kingdom and await his Father`s orders. Then the Prince raised his hand in blessing and farewell, and stepped inside the humble abode. The Mystery deepened. Months of silence wore on.
Then, at last, orders came from the grand throne room: Go and attend the Prince! Today was that day toward which all the procession of eternity had swept. The Prince of Glory had been born in Bethlehem on the small blue-green planet called Earth. He would be found in a stable beneath the brightest star in the heavens. What joy leapt in their hearts in anticipation of seeing him again. How joyfully they sang at his birth!
I have called this a Christmas Tale, for it might not have happened exactly like this. But my story is based on the most important story the world ever heard. It did happen. Jesus did leave heaven and come to live among us for awhile, and brought the Father`s Love. This Christmas, let the remembrance of His coming touch you with renewed awe and wonder.
"But you, O God, are my king from the old, You bring salvation upon the earth..."
Though Christ a thousand times
by D. Michaels
Once, long ago, in a far-away wonderful kingdom, the Prince was about to embark upon a journey.
Psalm 74: 12
In Bethlehem be born,
If He`s not born in you.
Your soul is till forlorn.
Ah, would your heart but be
A manger for His birth,
Once more would God now come
With peace upon the Earth.
